Marco Island Meals of Hope announced today its May “Happy Hour for Hope” will be Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Old Marco Pub and Restaurant from 5 PM to 7 PM. Old Marco Pub and Restaurant is located at 1105 Bald Eagle Drive, Marco Island.
Susan and Tom Ackerson are graciously hosting this event and look forward to offering drinks at happy hour prices and a delicious spread of hors d’oeuvres. Bill “Captain Happy Hope” Morris stated, “Old Marco Pub and Restaurant always provides great food and a welcome atmosphere. Susan already takes care of Korks for Kids and she and her husband Tom just keep on giving. They are terrific.”
Happy Hours for Hope are fundraisers for Marco Island’s Meals of Hope. The $20 admission fee helps the organization buy food for its packaging event in November. Happy Hours for Hope raise about $15,000 each year. The packaging event in November has a budget of $50,000. Morris explained, “These events are a big part of our funding, but we also need support from donors. This year ten individuals and businesses donated a minimum of $600 to become Friends of Hope. We still need over $10,000 in donations.”
Live entertainment will be provided by Rosetta Stone.
A 50/50 drawing is always offered. Meals of Hope will also have a cumulative 50/50 drawing to build until the winner is selected at the packaging event on November 17, 2018.
Marco Meals of Hope is a joint effort of Kiwanis, Noontime Rotary and Sunrise Rotary clubs. It is a hands-on approach to combating hunger in our community. Volunteers work year round raising funds for its packaging event at the Marco Island Charter Middle School. Last year, volunteers packed over 250,000 meals for distribution through the Meals of Hope distribution network. Organizers hope to equal that number this year at the packaging event.
Admission to Happy Hour for Hope is only $20 and everyone is invited. For more information, contact Bill “Captain Happy Hope” Morris at 239-642-6020.
