Happy Hour | MIHS to Host Happy Hour for Hope

“This one will be completely different and a lot of fun” said Bill Morris, Captain Happy Hope. “At most Happy Hours, the restaurants put out a great buffet, we have discounted priced drinks and a regular group of supporters. This one is at the Rose History Auditorium. We will have great food because it is catered by Da Vinci Ristorante. But, unlike most restaurants, there will be a lot of activities available. This time, we will have games!”

Attendees on June 24 will be able to participate in a wide variety of games such as corn hole, bowling and horseshoes. As if that that isn’t enough to get you excited, there will also be giant cards for card players and a selfie station. As always, the evening will include a 50/50 drawing and entertainment.

Entertainment will be provided by Konstantino. Konstantino has performed throughout the Florida Keys and has been a fixture in Southwest Florida since 2005. His music often features tropical themes influenced by Jimmy Buffet, southern rock and island rhythms.

The Marco Island Historical Society (MIHS) is graciously sponsoring the evening. As explained by Pat Rutledge, Executive Director, “The annual packaging of meals at Marco Island Charter Middle School is a community event that many look forward to all year round. We are hoping for a huge turnout.”

Happy Hours for Hope are part of the yearlong fundraising effort for Marco’s Meals of Hope. Marco Meals of Hope is a joint effort of Kiwanis, Noontime Rotary and Sunrise Rotary Clubs. It is a hands-on approach to combating hunger in our community. Volunteers work year-round raising funds for its packaging event at Marco Island Charter Middle School. This year’s packaging event is scheduled for November 16, 2019. Last year, volunteers packed over 250,000 meals, all of which will be distributed in the Collier County needy families and many on Marco Island itself.

According to Morris, “Our restaurant supporters and the Marco Island Historical Society make our packaging event a success. When we gather at the Marco Island Charter Middle School to package meals, we have already raised the money needed to buy the raw materials. Without the happy hours and financial donations, all the volunteers in the packaging event would be useless.”

Marco Island Meals of Hope Happy Hour for Hope will be hosted by the Marco Island Historical Society at Rose History Auditorium, June 24, 2019 from 5-7 PM.

Rose History Auditorium is located at 180 S. Heathwood Dr., Marco Island. For more information contact Bill Morris at wgm@wgmorrislaw.com or visit www.mohmi.org or for Meals of Hope parent organization, please visit www.meals-of-hope.org.
