Happy Hour For Hope at Center for the Arts

Marco Island Meals of Hope will hold its next “Happy Hour for Hope” on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the Marco Island Center for the Arts from 5 PM to 7 PM. The Marco Island Center for the Arts is located at 1010 Winterberry Drive, Marco Island. Admission to Happy Hour for Hope is only $20 and everyone is invited.

Hyla Crane, executive director of the Center for the Arts, graciously agreed to host the event. She explained “we are supporters of Meals of Hope due to the great work they do. This event should be a lot of fun, as attendees will not only be helping Meals of Hope, but will also have the opportunity to enjoy our exhibits in our Lauritzen, Rush and La Petite Galleries.”

“This one will be different,” said local attorney Bill Morris (aka Captain Happy Hope). “We are usually at a restaurant, but the Center does not serve food. DaVinci’s restaurant will provide food for this evening. Everyone knows DaVinci’s has some of the best food on Marco, so the combination of fine art and great food should make this evening something special.”

Entertainment will be provided by popular singer Rosetta Stone, who has been donating her voice at the monthly happy hours for years (along with her husband, Tom). Morris gushed, “Rosetta Stone is terrific. She has such a following that many attend our happy hours just to hear her.”

Happy Hours for Hope are fundraisers for Marco Island’s Meals of Hope. The $20 admission fee helps the organization buy food for its packaging event in November. According to Morris, “It costs over $45,000 to buy food materials for our Marco Island packaging event. These happy hours are critical. Even with a good turnout, our happy hours only raise about 1/3 of the funds needed. We will need some generous donors to reach our goal.”

Marco Island Meals of Hope is a joint effort of the Kiwanis, Noontime Rotary and Sunrise Rotary clubs. It is a handson approach to combating hunger in our community. Volunteers work year round raising funds for its packaging event at the Marco Island Charter Middle School. Last year, volunteers packed over 250,000 meals for distribution through the Meals of Hope distribution network. This year, organizers hope to do even more at the packaging event on November 18, 2018.
