Marco Island Meals of Hope’s July “Happy Hour for Hope” will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Stonewalls, 551 S. Collier Blvd., Marco Island.
“Stonewalls’ motto, ‘Fine Food Fast,’ is a perfect fit for the event,” said Bill “Captain Happy Hope” Morris. Morris added, “Tim and Kim Burke always support our events and are a big part of the Marco community.”
The Happy Hours for Hope $20 admission fee helps the Marco Island Meals of Hope buy food for its packaging event in November. Happy Hours for Hope raise about $15,000 each year. The packaging event has a budget of $50,000. Morris explained, “These events are a big part of our funding, but we also need support from donors. This year ten individuals and businesses donated a minimum of $600 to become Friends of Hope. We still need over $10,000 in donations.”
A 50/50 drawing is always offered. Meals of Hope will also have a cumulative 50/50 drawing to build until the winner is selected at the packaging event on November 17, 2018.
Marco Meals of Hope is a joint effort of Kiwanis, Noontime Rotary and Sunrise Rotary clubs. It is a hands-on approach to combating hunger in our community. Volunteers work year round raising funds. Last year, volunteers packed over 250,000 meals for distribution. Organizers hope to equal that number this year at the packaging event.
