The Hairball is the signature fundraising event of the year for For the Love of Cats, the no-kill shelter on Marco Island. Helping to celebrate the fifth year of this event is celebrity host, Bill Wood, from Fox4 Morning Blend, along with volunteers and animal lovers from all over the county. The exclusive Island Country Club sets the stage for an enjoyable evening filled with interactive venues to raise funds that are used directly for the rescue and care of abandoned cats and kittens in the community. After the excitement of the final drawings for the 42” Samsung Plasma TV, the WII gaming console and the Kindle 3G reader with the reverse raffle, guests will enjoy a delicious dinner followed by time to bid on the expansive and affordable silent auction items. This year the auction includes 4 park hopper passes to Walt Disney World, 2 round trip tickets on Southwest Airlines, Island Hopper helicopter tour, precious and semi-precious jewelry, hotel and spa packages, fine art and lots of restaurant packages- something for everyone and every budget. Take a break from bidding on auction items by trying your luck at the “Purrfect Putt” putting green. “This year, our “Hairball” is going to be the best ever with Bill Wood helping to add excitement to our evening. With so many of our adoptions to families who own dogs, we hope that all animal lovers will be helping to support our efforts in the community.” Says Jan Rich, president of For the Love of Cats.
Since 2002, For the Love of Cats has been serving the community through a humane management program of TNR (trap, neuter, return) as well as rescue, adoption, low income and spay/neuter programs. The all volunteer organization has rescued and adopted over 1800 cats and kittens to date. For the Love of Cats is a 501c3 non-profit that operates solely through the generosity of the community.
The Hairball is being held on Sunday, November 14th from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Island Country Club on Marco Island. Reservations are $90 and parking is free. To make donations, reservations, purchase reverse raffle tickets, or to volunteer, please call Jan Rich at 239-642-8674.
