The Rotary Club of Marco Island Sunrise recently presented its Unsung Hero Award for Second Quarter, 2015 to Craig Greusel. Greusel is recognized for his service to the Marco Island community and placing “service above self “consistent with Rotary’s aspirations.
Greusel works as a music teacher in Collier County Public Schools. He is music director at the Marco Island Lutheran Church. But, his real service is his years of volunteering as a music and arts coordinator, instructor and performer, especially to Island youth. He is also an annual participant in the Marco Island Easter Sunday sunrise service. In the words of Herb Savage, the Rotary member nominating Greusel, “Craig never seeks personal recognition and adds class to many events with his musical talents. He is deserving of our Unsung Hero award.”
As the Sunrise Rotary’s Unsung Hero, Greusel was awarded a plaque commemorating the recognition. In addition, the Club will donate $100.00 to the American Heart Association as a charity chosen by Greusel and 20 polio vaccines as part of Rotary International’s effort to eradicate polio.
The Unsung Hero award recognizes a member of the Marco Island community who unselfishly help others and who has not generally been recognized for such service. The recipient is not a member of Rotary, but either works, lives or provides service on Marco Island.
Rotary Club of Marco Island Sunrise awards its Unsung Hero on a quarterly basis. Nomination forms may be obtained from Sunrise Rotary at www.marcosunriserotary.com or from William G. Morris, Chairman, 247 North Collier Blvd., Suite 202, Marco Island 34145 or email@example.com.
