Recently, four motor coaches carried guests to four homes beautifully decorated for the holidays. The Marco Island Christmas Home Tour was a collaborative event for the Marco Island Nature Preserve & Bird Sanctuary (MINP) and the Calusa Garden Club (CGC) of Marco Island.
Linda Turner’s Pineapple Cottage showcased her pineapple motif with traditional holiday reds and greens with lime green and gold accents. An added attraction was her Florida-friendly landscape, designed by Squares and S&S Landscape.
Sandy Wallen’s Mediterranean-style home with an amazing view of the ABC Islands glittered with her own creation of blues and gold. Her home also featured an extensive collection from Marco’s local artists.
Wendy Morell’s country farmhouse reflected a traditional red and green collection with snowman accent.
Brittany Stoller’s coastal contemporary had a theme of aquamarine and silver arranged by Marco Island Florist. Her Florida-friendly landscaped front yard displayed easy-care bromeliads, courtesy of S&S Landscape. Table centerpieces created by Calusa Garden Club designers were popular raffle prizes.
CGC President Sandy Wallen was very pleased with the turnout as it will help fund CGC’s scholarship programs, the Junior Gardener Program at Tommie Barfield, and community and civic outreach.
The tour event chair, Linda Turner, was equally pleased with half of the proceeds going to the Marco Island Nature Preserve to fund the Eagle Cam and educational outreach programs.
A big “Thank You” to the Coach Sponsors, Squares Landscaping and S&S Landscape and Irrigation Contractors and to all the elves and volunteers.
CGC also introduced its Gardening Guide, a must-have for all property owners, at the 2018 price of $10. To reserve a copy, please call Sue Oldershaw at 239-290-0612 and leave a message. The Gardening Guide is also available at the Marco Island Chamber of Commerce.
