Major League Baseball great Luis Tiant was the scheduled speaker and was forced to cancel due to Hurricane Irene and its impact along the east coast of the US.
This event will be rescheduled for the first week of December 2011.
Tickets already purchased for the event will also be honored at the rescheduled time and day.
The first of four events in this series will be held in November 2011 and will feature sports celebrities from the NHL.
Tickets will be available for each luncheon at a cost of only $35 or attendee can purchase a Season Ticket Package at a discounted rate of only $130 and attend all four scheduled events slated for an 11:30 a.m. start time.
Greater Marco Island Family YMCA Board Member and local businessman Sonny Zamites has successfully implemented the “Sports Celebrity Speaker Series” in other locations and is excited about starting the same program here on Marco Island. Mr. Zamites background includes a lengthy stint in professional hockey for the Rochester Americans (Amerks), part of the American Hockey League and a top affiliate of The Florida Panthers, as well as working on various branding projects for NHL and AHL teams and league events.
