Great Blue Heron Released at Tigertail Beach Lagoon

 

 

Bird is the Word

As the song goes, “Don’t you know ‘bout the bird! Well ev’rybody knows that the bird is the word!”

The Great Blue Heron made a remarkable recovery from an injury inflicted by a 9-inch fishing lure with treble hooks. Our thanks to the staff at the Von Arx Wildlife Hospital for the TLC the bird received during its rehabilitation. Today our Big Blue is back in his own

 

 

backyard at Tigertail Beach Lagoon. A very happy ending for this lucky bird.   

At 3P.M. January 19th, staff from the Von Arx Wildlife Hospital of the Conservancy of Southwest Florida brought a healthy looking great blue heron back to its natural habitat at Tigertail Beach Lagoon.

Jean Hall, Collier County Shorebird Steward shared her feelings of joy, “What a wonderful day this was! Congratulations to all the people who worked so hard to capture this bird and help  him return to Tigertail Beach area.”
