Glory of the Grape

A Glorious Event for MI Chamber

Glory of the Grape, the annual fundraiser for the Marco Island Area Chamber of Commerce scholarship fund and other charitable efforts, was recently held at Chop 239 in the Esplanade. The event drew over 150 people and featured 17 wine selections paired with delicious samplings of gourmet food.

Guests enjoyed smoked salmon crostini paired with vintages of Occhio Douro Tons de Duorum White and Paul Blanck et Fils Pinot Blanc.

Blackened beef tips with béarnaise sauce were outstanding with a generous pour of Charles Krug Divining Rod Red. A glass of Trefethen Dry Riesling was the perfect complement for sesame encrusted ahi tuna in a wonton cup with Asian slaw, while chorizo in a puff pastry was delightful with a splash of Milbrant Traditions Cabernet.

We can not thank Marco and Deanna Porto of Chop 239 enough for their hospitality. The new venue gave us more room to experience the fabulous food and learn about the wines from each sponsored table sommelier. We are
