Get involved—join a committee

 

 

The Collier County Board of Commissioners (BCC) is seeking applications for positions on several advisory committees.

The Affordable Housing Advisory Committee currently has 1 vacancy and is seeking 1 member as an alternate who must reside in Immokalee. This is a 9 member committee created by Ordinance 91?65 as amended to monitor the implementation of the Affordable Housing Task Force’s recommendations, and the goals, objectives, and policies of the Housing Elements of the County’s Growth Management Plan and the City’s Comprehensive Plan. Terms are 3 years.

The Black Affairs Advisory Board currently has 4 terms that that will expire on June 25, 2014. This 9 member board identifies and evaluates concerns unique to the black community. The board reviews and recommends ways to ensure open communication between minorities and Collier County Government to help promote and foster better understanding by Collier County Government of the challenges facing the minority community.

The Consumer Advisory Board (CAB) has 1 vacancy with the term expiring on December 1, 2013. This board was created on May 26, 2009, by Ordinance No. 2009-27. This 5 member board was created for the purpose of hearing any appeals from adverse administrative decisions regarding a public vehicle license permit. They will also hear all public consumer issues.

The Environmental Advisory Council has 1 vacancy, for a technical alternate member with a term that will expire on July 7, 2014. This 5 member (plus 1 alternate member) council acts in an advisory capacity to the Board in matters dealing with the regulation, control, management, use or exploitation of any or all natural resources within the County, and the review of all land development petitions which require an environmental impact statement (EIS) per section 10.02.02A of the Code, all developments of regional impact (DRI), lands with special treatment (ST) or Area of Critical State Concern/ Special Treatment zoning overlays, areas of the county covered by interlocal agreements and any petitions which cannot be resolved between the applicant and staff. Terms are 4 years.

The Horizon Study Oversight Committee has 1 vacancy for an alternate with the term expiring on April 28, 2012. This committee was created on February 24, 2009 by Resolution No. 09-38. This 3 member 1 alternate member committee will represent the citizens, business owners and property owners within the Study area. The committee

 

 

will further the goals of the East of CR951 Infrastructure and Services Horizon Study.

The Isles of Capri Fire Control District Advisory Committee has 3 terms expiring on December 31, 2010. This 5 member committee advises the BCC on the budget and operation of the Isles of Capri Fire Control District. Terms are 2 years and members must reside within the boundaries of the Isles of Capri Municipal Fire Services Taxing District.

The Library Advisory Board has 2 terms expiring on December 31, 2010, representing Commission Districts 1 and 3. This 5-member board acts on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners to establish policies of the Library Department, including, but not limited to, policies relating to materials acquisition and circulation, collection development, and eligibility of individuals for library services.

The Ochopee Fire Control District Advisory Committee has 2 terms expiring on December 31, 2010, representing the Copeland and Chokoloskee areas. This 5 member committee advises the BCC on the budget and operation of the Ochopee Fire Control District. Members must reside within the taxing district.

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board has 2 terms expiring on December 31, 2010, representing urban areas and 1 term expiring December 31, 2010, representing Immokalee. Representation on this board consists of 1 member from the Immokalee Community Park District and 6 members from the Naples and Urban Area Community Park District.

The Radio Road Beautification MSTU Advisory Committee has a vacancy for a term expiring on March 3, 2013. This 5-member committee was established on October 21, 1997 to aid and assist the Board of County Commissioners in carrying out the purposes of providing curbing, watering facilities, plantings and maintenance of the median areas as set forth in Ordinance No. 96-84.

You will receive a confirmation that your application was sent. Note: You must put your e-mail address in the application to receive a copy of your application.

The deadline for acceptance of applications is November 15, 2010.
