The oldest non-profit community theater on Marco Island kicks off its 42nd season with its first-ever fundraisers celebrating the art of music and theater.
Two fundraising events are planned this season:
Donors are invited to join our “Cast of Caricatures” mural. Your caricature will come to life by fine artist Karen Swanker. “This is a unique and entertaining way to see yourself! A mural caricature is fun as it often emphasizes your best features,” says Karen Swanker. For a donation of $250 for a large full figure or $150 for a smaller figure, you and your friends will enjoy the experience of becoming part of the mural wall.
The second event is a dinner cruise planned for the evening of Monday, March 20, 2017. When you donate $100 per person, you will enjoy a two-hour “murder mystery cruise” on the Marco Island Princess called the “Whodunnit Cruise.”
Filled with mystery, music, and food, you’ll enjoy an evening of fast-paced investigation where you’ll figure out “whodunnit” while listening to wonderful music of JRobert, the Florida fiddler. It would be a real “crime” not to attend!
The Marco Players Theater has its future growth in mind and has set this season’s goal at $25,000. This will establish a nest egg and also support our current operations. “Our ticket sales provide enough to survive, but we have ambitions to thrive,” says Beverly Dahlstrom, artistic director. “Because we have so many talented actors, directors and volunteers, your community theater has become an important part of Marco Island’s art scene. These two fundraisers will help us continue to bring the best of community theater to the Island.”
