Fuller Funeral Home

Most people today do not realize that food was an integral part of funeral planning in the days of past. Family often traveled great distances and expected to find a hearty meal following the funeral as they prepared for the journey home.

It was quite common for neighbors and friends to provide gifts of food to the bereaved family. One of the most common and easiest way to provide for a large number of people was to prepare casseroles. Casseroles became associated with funerals and still to this day, casseroles provide comfort food to many families following a service.

Today we depend on church facilities to host funeral meals or we can make arrangements at a restaurant or country club for such a gathering.

In absence of those facilities being available, many funeral homes, like ours have opened part of their facilities for food service and events to occur. We offer full service catering to families following their funeral or memorial services. Sometimes the catered meal provides an opportunity to express and share memories of a loved one. A Celebration of Life can be held there and can even allow for a glass of champagne or other spirits to be raised in honor of someone.

Today’s funerals can be quite different from the funerals we grew up attending. Many families choose us to help them plan that special event ahead of time through advanced funeral planning. Please feel free to contact us if we can answer any of your questions concerning our services and the food receptions we can provide.
