From Souper Bowl to Scholarships

The Marco Island Area Chamber of Commerce/Leadership Marco is proud to present eight scholarships to this year’s local graduates.

This year marked 8 years for this tasty event. Souper Bowl began in 2013 and is held on the Saturday before THE Super Bowl. Ceramic bowls are handpainted by our local elementary, middle, and high school students along with Marco Island Parks and Recreation. The bowls are then fired by the Clay Guild, Marco Island Center for the Arts, Lely High School and Tommie Barfield Elementary School. Local restaurants donate 15 gallons of their prized soups and over 700 community members come out to sample them all.

With the help of our local schools, restaurants and our community, the Marco Island Area Chamber of Commerce/Leadership Marco raised over $12,000 this year which was distributed to the eight worthy students listed below. The scholarship committee consisted of Lisa Meurgue, Chair, Betsy Novakovich, Cheryl Stokes and Jackie Strategos.

Please join the Chamber in wishing our students the best on their college endeavors. Congratulations!
