The Rotary Clubs of Marco Island will host a free Veterans resource and job fair Tuesday, October 11th from 9 AM to 3 PM at Rose History Auditorium in the Marco Island Historical Society, located at 180 S. Heathwood Dr., Marco Island. This event is free and open to all Collier County veterans, regardless of discharge status.
Participating in the event will be both providers of veterans’ services and local employers who actively target veterans. The goal of this event is to provide local veterans a centralized event opportunity to inquire on benefits they may be entitled to and seek employment opportunities if desired. Some of the veterans’ resource providers attending include Collier County Veterans Affairs Office, Veterans Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Office, and the Collier County Veterans Council. Local employers participating include the City of Marco Island, Collier County Sheriffs Department, the Marriott Resort of Marco Island, and others.
Event co-chair Natalia Armstrong remarked, “As a disabled veteran myself I know full well it is not easy to navigate veterans benefits services or even know what services are available. We hope to bring awareness to the veterans living in our community, while at the same time work with employers that recognize veterans have unique skills they can take advantage of in the operations.
The event offers attendees an opportunity to network and meet informally with other veterans. Veterans sharing their knowledge and experiences will be an important part of this event. Light refreshments will be provided by First Integrity Bank of Marco Island. Additionally, Walgreens will be providing free flu shots to veterans with a voucher obtained from various Veterans Administration health clinic locations and a valid ID.
