Free Class on Green Industries Offered for Landscape Professionals


A free class on green industries and best management practices will be offered on June 4, 2019 from 8 AM to 5 PM at the Marco Island Police Department, 51 Bald Eagle Drive, Marco Island. The topics include an introduction and overview of green industries and best management practices, lawn and landscapes, irrigation, fertilizer, pesticides, gopher tortoises and burrowing owls.

The completion of this course is required to maintain compliance with the City of Marco Island Landscaping and Fertilizer ordinances, as well as Florida State statute and administrative law.

Training and testing materials, morning snacks and a pizza lunch will be provided free of charge.

Who should attend? Those employed in lawn care, pest control, or the landscaping industry; irrigation industry workers; commercial property managers; builders and developers; landscape designers and architects; golf course employees; and anyone working in the areas of water quality, urban development or environmental issues.

This program is sponsored by the Marco Island Police Department Code Enforcement Unit and the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agriculture Sciences.
