Folk Singer With Unique Sound Comes to Marco

Submitted Photo | Folksinger and songwriter, Penn Johnson.

The Marco Island Center for the Arts is proud to present folksinger and songwriter Penn Johnson, who describes himself as an old soul in a 21st century body.

Originally a Massachusetts native, in the past two years he has logged 150,000 miles in his van performing at festivals and shows throughout the country. His sound is described as “poetic vocals with percussive strumming.” He is a refreshing songwriter focused on the lyrics and message. Penn writes about timeless issues and his unique sound connects to audiences on an intimate level.

“I hear Dylan and Tom Waits in his music … with a much better voice. He strums well and he fingerpicks fine. This cat is the real deal.”  ~ A.J. Wachtel, The Noise.

The performance takes place on Thursday, October 11, 2018, from 5:30–7 PM in the Art Center. Tickets are $25 for members and $30 for non-members. Call 239-394-4221 or visit www.marcoislandart.org/musicalinterludes for more information or to purchase tickets.
