The Marco Island Fire Rescue Foundation (MIFRF) held its annual Pancake Breakfast at the Fire Station for a hungry crowd. The eggs, sausage, and pancake breakfast is a popular treat for breakfast lovers. “Guest” pancake flippers included Fire Chief Mike Murphy, City Manager Roger Hernstadt and Steve Stefanides.
Adults enjoyed an opportunity to support their local fire department, to socialize and share a meal with friends. Kids loved the pancakes (especially when the Chief added chocolate chips, or worked some Mickey Mouse pancake magic.) Children, no matter how old, were welcome to see the fire trucks, too.
Guests spanned the decades. It was a treat to seeEmily Bush, who celebrates her 100th birthday on April 15th. You wouldn’t know it by looking at her! She is the mother of MIFRF member, Lou Prigge. At the same time Emily was enjoying her pancakes, Jane Skudnig, probably the youngest person ever in attendance at barely two weeks old, slept through it all. Jane’s mother, Molly, had her hands full with a newborn, Kate (two years old) by her side, and a plate of pancakes.
The highlight of the morning was the Fire Rescue Foundation’s drawing of the Cruise Your Way Raffle winner. All proceeds from the raffle were earmarked for the new scholarship program for fire personnel and their families. Congratulations and bon voyage to winner Andrea Gattuso!
