Jim Curran, President, agreed. “ I want to thank all the fire fighters who pitched in especially Chief Mike Murphy who manned the grill all morning long flipping pancakes. They were all involved. However, they also stoodready to go to their trucks if an alarm came in. They were great!”
The question of the morning, what would happen if a call came in, was quickly answered when loud alarms went off signaling it was time to go. In an instant a fire truck was manned and dispatched in response to a call.
Between the breakfast, the cruise raffle, and donations, the foundation raised approximately $3500.00. The cruise raffle was won by V. Sisson who purchased her ticket during the breakfast. Fire/Rescue personnel welcomed anyone interested in knowing more about the tools of their trade and there werelots of photo opportunities for anyone who wanted to be in the driver seat of one of the fire trucks.
“This was a community event of which I was proud to be a part,” said President Jim Curran. “We could not have done it without the cooperation and support of Publix Supermarket who supplied most of the food. Mutual of Omaha Bank, our newest bank on the island, allowed a number of their employees to help out at the station. A sincere thank you goes to Dianna Dohm and Roy Birkeland for all the work they did in preparation, and Jack Patterson for the cruise raffle campaign.”
