The Marco Island Historical Society is presenting a vast array of educational and entertaining programs at Rose History Auditorium throughout February and March.
Every Friday in February Ted Eismeier will present “Mapping Florida History,” a study group that will consider Florida’s past, present and future through the lens of maps. Topics will include Florida’s discovery and development, demography, economy, politics and environment. The group will meet Feb. 6, 20 and 27 at Rose Auditorium from 1-2 PM and on Feb. 13 from 2-3 PM. There is a one-time fee of $5 per person. Celebrate Valentine’s Day with vocalist and musical comedy performer Cindy Miller as she takes the stage at Rose Auditorium on Feb. 14 at 7 PM. Her repertoire includes Lady GaGa, Barbara Streisand, Tina Turner and Madonna. Tickets for the show are $25 and are available at the Marco Island Historical Museum’s gift shop. On Feb. 4, Bonnie Bozzo entertained Marco Islanders as the legendary actress, singer, playwright, screenwriter and sex symbol Mae West. Next up, Bozzo will portray silver screen legend and princess Grace Kelly on Monday, Feb. 23, at 1:30 PM. This program will explore her childhood, her love life and her public life. Don’t miss “Discovering Stababa: The History of Mound Key,” a presentation by Archaeologist and Cultural Resource Consultant Theresa Schober. Set for Tuesday, March 3, at 7 PM, Schober program will take the audience through the remnants of elevated mounds and ridges, sculpted canals and watercourts that are all that remain of a once thriving Calusa society in Southwest Florida. Finally, on March 29 at 7 PM, join MIHS at Rose Auditorium for “The Voices of Legends” starring Johnny T, a one-man tribute show. Elvis Presely, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Neil Diamond, you name the musical legend, and Johnny T will sing them. Tickets are $25 per person, and are available in the museum gift shop.
