February 19th was a special post-Valentines celebration for Luncheon with Friends at the Marco Lutheran Church. The 240+ guests were treated to something special with Rosetta Stone, and her husband Tom, providing the musical entertainment for over an hour.
Rosetta Stone, aka Rose Kramer, is Marco Island’s very own renowned singer and is well–loved and received everywhere she goes. She has a “cult–type” following and I am sure she added a few more after seniors from 94 young and younger grooved to her musical selections.
Chapel of Love was a big hit, “because we’re goin to the chapel, and we’re gonna get married. Goin to the chapel and we’re going to get married. Goin to the chapel of love, yeah, yeah, yeah.” Guests got up from their seats and put on their dancing shoes and grooved to the easy and sentimental language of love.
Rose and her husband Tom moved to Marco Island after Tom’s retirement as Chief of Police from the Township of Union, New Jersey. Music was always in Rose’s blood and it shows as she shares her musical talent with a big fan base in Marco and Naples.
Nancy Kot announced that the Our Daily Bread Food Pantry will be open for those who would like to pick up groceries after lunch. The luncheon treat was provided by DaVinci’s Restaurant and they have the only wood-burning pizza oven on Marco Island. Nancy Kot reminded the guests that if they are ever at Marco Walk Plaza to stop by and say thank you to the Carvelli Family for their generous sponsorship of the Luncheon with Friends.
The March 18th luncheon will be provided by Island Country Club with a guest appearance by the Marco Players. The Lunch with Friends Over 60 is a collaboration between the Marco Island YMCA, Our Daily Bread Food Pantry and co-sponsored by the Marco Lutheran Church. Luncheon is free of charge to all area residents, “60 or better.”
Nancy Kot reminded the guests to please sign up for March as soon as possible as the hall may be at capacity. Please RSVP to Nancy Kot at 706-566-8532 or email lunchwithfriendsmarco@gmailcom.
