On Saturday, October 22, the Family Fun Event and Second Annual Stroller Derby was held at Edison State College at the NCEF Early Childhood Development Center. Proceeds to benefit families who need financial assistance with tuition for their children who attend the center’s child care programs.
One of the highlights of the day was the Azteca Danza Guadalupe Group, a non-profit Mexican dance troupe, which is a cultural and religious group whose mission is to spread the roots to their young people so that they may understand and appreciate their rich and unique heritage. They dance in their traditional costumes to drum music. Altogether there are about 30 members with a waiting list to join.
Bob Harden, radio personality, served as emcee of the event. He is pictured here in the Stroller Derby race. He raced against one of the members of the Azteca Danza Guadalupe Group. Harden won the race.
The event was fun for all ages. It included many attractions for children including games, arts & crafts, a bounce house, “Spunky” – a five- foot iguana, baby alligators, a crime dog, Ron McDonald, a magician, face-painting, raffles, and free screenings for vision, hearing, and blood pressure, to name a few.
