Fairway Church puts its motto, “Helping People Take Their Next Step With God,” into practice in some unique ways.
The East Naples church recently held their first-ever “Bring Your Dog to Church Day.” Dogs and their humans enjoyed special stations set up in the church, which included Christmas ornaments for dogs, puzzle boxes and treats. PetSmart was on hand for dog grooming and training.
Being able to bring their furry best friend drew in many guests who do not regularly attend a local church. “That’s exactly why we wanted a dog day to begin with; a chance to meet new people in the community and share the love of Christ,” said Pastor Joe Brown, who shares preaching duties with Pastor Tim Reed, church founder and Senior Pastor for over 12 years. Pastor Tim’s labradoodle Quincy Adam was one of the dogs in attendance.
“It’s a great way to meet new people. Then, as the new guests learn of our other community outreach opportunities, many stay to help,” added Pastor Joe, who recently joined the church and heads the communications and outreach ministry.
Fairway Church has numerous outreach programs in East Naples; to Justin’s Place, Eagle Lake Community Park, a weekly non-perishable food delivery to the needy, and Thanksgiving and Christmas food drives.
Justin’s Place is a non-profit organization that helps people who have struggled with substance abuse, and recently from incarceration. Fairway Church serves meals to the group and the Praise Team brings worship.
The church is looking to increase its quarterly outreach to Eagle Lake Community Park, to monthly. “The goal is to reach the youth of East Naples so they can be positively impacted and instilled with an idea that there is a different path they can take and that path is Jesus and what a difference that will make,” explained Pastor Joe.
Fairway Church is housed in a unique space that serves it well. Because the church shares its space with Opera Naples, the congregation enjoys the benefits of state-of-the-art lighting, sound and video technology. Stadium seating provides parishioners with an excellent view, and there is no bad seat in the house.
The welcome at Fairway Church is warm and personal. In fact, the special greetings begin at a welcome station before even entering the church! Greeters give guests a tour of the facilities and help them find great seats. At every service the church provides refreshments, including coffee and water. Children are welcomed with a Kids Club House, or nursery depending on age.
Pastors Tim Reed and Joe Brown are longtime friends who both feel strongly that God wants to do mighty and exceptional things in East Naples.
Pastor Tim has been in the ministry for 30 years and is dedicated to the East Naples community. He will continue to lead the Praise and Worship Teams and the Men’s Discipleship training. Pastor Tim and his wife of thirty years, Jane, have two daughters. The couple welcomed their first granddaughter seven months ago.
Pastor Joe Brown moved to Naples seven years ago from Georgia. Pastor Joe and his wife Carol, of almost 15 years, have a three-year-old son and a one-year-old daughter. He has pastored church plants in Naples, and most recently, churches in the Everglades following Hurricane Irma.
Fairway Church is located at 2408 Linwood Avenue in Naples. It is a non-denominational, contemporary and scriptural conservative church, with a goal to “be all things to all people that we might reach some.” (I Corinthians 9:22). Services are every Sunday at 10 AM. For more information visit fairwaychurch.com or call 239-238-0728.
