Clyde Butcher’s Big Cypress Gallery will hold its annual Labor Day Weekend Swamp Walks from Friday, September 1, through Monday, September 3. Every year I write about the excitement of “walking” in the swamp, the only way to really experience the true Everglades (up close and personal). During the winter season, we have many opportunities throughout south Florida to take a walk in the swamp. If you’ve never gotten your feet wet or ever had a fear of doing so, taking a “guided” tour behind the Big Cypress Gallery in Ochopee is the best way to go. It was the first time I had walked in the water, and it was an experience I’ll never forget. It was so amazing, and the guides are great. So, if you’ve always wanted to walk the walk, this is your chance.

It’s a photographer’s dream to capture the wildlife and flora in the swamp. This will be the 19th Annual Open House, and Clyde and Niki will both be available in the gallery to meet visitors and share their new photos from the trips they took this summer. Clyde is world renowned for his large format black and white photography and Niki for her pastel work on her photographs. Don’t miss out on this opportunity!
