Pre-school children had plenty of fun and stimulating activities on tap this past weekend as the YMCA of South Collier (Marco Y) staged its annual Healthy Kids Day.

The national Y initiative signals the start of summer, along with promoting healthy living and lifestyles, said School Age Manager Charlene Rose.

There was a sand art station as well as bird feeder painting opportunities, pickleball lessons, a rubber ball drum session, seed planting in the Y’s vegetable garden, and plenty of books to choose from and take home, among other activities.

Rose said the day, Saturday, April 24, was extra special because it marked a return to normal activities in the big Youth Development Center – with appropriate caution, of course.

Around 60 children enjoyed the variety of things to do.
