This isn’t the first time Brechnitz has sought elected office. He previously served on the city council of a mediumsized Midwestern city for 10 years after which he was elected mayor and held that office for four years. During his tenure, he hired two very successful city managers.
“My wife, Nancy, and I have been privileged to call Marco Island our home since 1995. We love this place and are grateful for its natural beauty and small-town feel,” says Brechnitz. He continues, “We are very passionate about maintaining that small-town island quality of life.”
As part of his campaign, Brechnitz has introduced what he would like to do for Marco: Hold the line on taxes and limit government growth Fix the damn roads Bring civility to council discussion Improve canal water quality Hire right and don’t micromanage
Brechnitz concludes, “I have the experience and passion that I believe will be helpful in addressing these important challenges. As the campaign unfolds, I look forward to a vigorous debate on the issues and hope to earn your support.”
The Erik for Marco campaign will hold its campaign kickoff and Fundraiser on April 6th at 4:30 PM in the Live Oak Room at the Sports Center.
