As per tradition, President Sandra Simmons welcomed three new members up to the mic to commence the evening. This was followed by regular updates for upcoming events as there have been changes to one of ENMA’s special holiday projects.
“There have been a few unforeseen hurdles throughout this project and many moving parts,” Simmons stated. “It’s the continued efforts and support from ENMA members that make this project all possible.”The donation project that has brewed under the radar for the past several months has faced unique challenges. The goal of the project is to provide shoes to every child in the fifth grade at Manatee Elementary School, from a list of students and their shoe sizes. Ordering in bulk seemed like an easy solution at first, but it was discovered that all sizes are not guaranteed in an order, and some may arrive at different times. Further, shoe sizes vary depending on the color and style, which means the kids must try on the shoes in person. Delivery day will require plenty of ENMA volunteers to help. The project is funded by members’ donations throughout the year and a portion of membership dues. Information will be provided at the December 6th network meeting at Bill’s Steak & Seafood to help prepare members for the big day. The delivery is set for December 11, at the main entrance of the elementary school.
