Marco Island Charter Middle School’s 7th and 8th grade Girls’ Volleyball Team 2 participated in First Baptist Academy’s Lion’s Den Volleyball Tournament on October 1st and 2nd. The girls played five grueling matches against First Baptist Academy, the Community School of Naples, and Seacrest Country Day School. The MICMS Eagles finished third in the tournament. Coaches Amber Prange and Stephanie Percel could not be any happier with the girls’ performance,

“They played extremely well; we are so proud! Each player contributed to our successes. This tournament allowed them an opportunity to play a lot of volleyball against some really competitive teams. They rose to the challenge and exceeded our expectations. We all had a blast because the girls were finally playing volleyball to their potential.”

While each of the players made commendable contributions throughout the weekend, some of the standout players included: Jessica Simon, Jessica Ragan, Violet Sullivan, Romina Gimenez, and Victoria Vale. Team setter, Madison Smith, was awarded a spot on the tournament’s All Star Championship Team for her outstanding performance throughout the weekend.

Friday’s game scores: – Game 1 vs. Seacrest: 13-25 loss, 25-17 win, 12-15 loss.
Game 2 vs. First Baptist Academy: 25-21 win, 18-25 loss, 15-6 win
Key players were Romina Gimenez, Madison Smith, Daniella Marroquin

On Tuesday, October 5, the MICMS Girls’ 6th Grade JV Volleyball again played against First Baptist Academy. The girls played really well during the first game but the team struggled to communicate during the second and third games which really hurt their performance.

The results were: 25-22 win, 6-25 loss, 3-15 loss.
Key players were Katie Moss, Riley Burke, April Alvardo, Emmanuel Meurgue.

The Girls’ 7th and 8th Grade Varsity Volleyball Team 2, surprisingly, got off to a bit of a rough start at Tuesday afternoon’s game matches, after their strong performance at the tournament the previous weekend. However, once they found their rhythm the girls did really well.

The results were: 25-22 win, 25-27 loss, 15-8 win.
Key players were Jessica Ragan, Victoria Vale, Shannon O’Regan.

On Wednesday, October 6, the MICM Girls’ 7th and 8th Grade Varsity Volleyball Team 2 played against Royal Palm Academy. The game got off to a slow start; the players were watching the game instead of playing the game. Once they started communicating, they did much better and continued to work on a bump, set, spike offensive.

The results were: 25-23 win, and 25-11 win! Key players were Sophi Popoff, Monica Lora, Olivia Guzzo, Jessica Ragan.
