Driving for detection

By Coastal Breeze News Staff

Radiology Regional brings easy access to mammograms. According to the American Cancer Society, there is strong evidence to support the benefits of annual mammograms for women in their 40s, a practice that should be continued every year of a woman’s life for as long as she is in good health. On Thursday, December 1, Radiology Regional Center’s Mobile Mammo Coach will be offering digital screening mammograms at the Marco Beach Ocean Resort, 480 Collier Boulevard, from 11 am to 3PM.

Each mammogram takes just 15 minutes to complete and no prescription is required. Justine Saunders, program coordinator for Mobile Mammography, points out, “If you are asymptomatic and due for your annual mammogram, we encourage you to take advantage of this easy, accessible, but state of the art program. Be proactive and take care of ‘you’ today.”

Local and out-of-state insurance will be accepted. There is also a discounted self-pay price of $150 for those who are uninsured. A board-certified radiologist will review the mammograms for patients. Radiology Regional Center has been serving SW Florida for over 35 years and Saunders is proud to bring the mobile unit’s Driving for Detection program to Marco.

Space is limited, so call 239-936-2316 for an appointment. Patients should be prepared to bring a photo ID and any insurance cards with them to their appointments.
