The Gala…the Marco Island Historical Society Celebrates 25 Years of Preserving the History and Heritage of Our Community
One hundred eighty guests gave thanks for the tireless efforts and achievements of the Marco Island Historical Society as they celebrated at the Gala, appropriately themed, Dreams Do Come True. A beautiful, ice sculpture of the Key Marco Cat greeted attendees as they entered the Island Country Club’s Ballroom. The festive evening included: dinner, dancing, speeches, and an array of luxury items for bid.
The evening’s Honorees Bill and Betsy Perdichizzi and Craig Woodward were thanked for their exceptional devotion in preserving local history and heritage.
Guests eagerly bid for items in both the Silent and Live Auctions. The Live Auction portion of the event topped the fundraising activities list with such stunning items as:
A 20-karat gold, rose cut diamonds and shell pendant and chain in an Egyptian cat motif designed, signed and donated by award-winning, renowned jeweler Coomi Bhasin who is featured at luxury retailers. A $15,000 value.
A 14-karat gold, diamond-encrusted Key Marco Cat pendant debuted by Kathein Jewelers to honor the return of the Key Marco Cat. This beautiful piece of one ounce 14 karat white gold was covered in 6 carats of diamonds. A $13,500 value.
A Fendi handbag with a python handle, leather cross body strap and colorful design donated by Saks Fifth Avenue. A $7,500 value.
Following the Live Auction, the people attending also supported the MIHS call for a Gift from the Heart with generous cash donations.
“The passion to protect the history of Marco Island was alive in the room,” remarks Pat Rutledge
