The Guadalupe Center invites those interested in becoming a mentor to a college-bound Immokalee High School student enrolled in its Tutor Corps Program to Discover Mentoring on the Terrace at Caxambas in Fiddler’s Creek beginning at 5 PM on January 26. Each year, 20-30 promising new students are added to Tutor Corps. Each student works as a tutor to Kindergarten-2nd graders each day after school, earns up to $4,000 in college scholarship money, and is paired with an adult mentor. Mentoring does not involve traveling to Immokalee, nor does it have a financial obligation. It does involve being a listening ear and a guiding hand to a first generation high school graduate heading off to college.
At Discover Mentoring, guests will meet and hear from mentors, mentees and staff of the Guadalupe Center’s Tutor Corps Program. RSVP by January 17 to 908-581-4754 or email@example.com
The Guadalupe Center creates possibilities through education in its mission to break the cycle of poverty for the children of Immokalee by providing Early Childhood Education, After-School Tutoring, and college-prep Tutor Corps Program.
