Last week the Collier County Association for the Blind tossed a bingo party at the First United Methodist Church in Naples. In the first period, people from assisted living facilities attended, followed by a session for the general public and another set of games for residents of local assisted living homes.
Refreshments were available and the prizes were spectacular. Cash awards up to a hundred dollars for several games as well as wonderful gift certificates from local merchants and restaurants.
Everyone agreed that the event lived up to expectations, and we hope to repeat this in the spring of 2012.
If you are blind or visually handicapped, or if you just feel like doing a good turn for somebody else, you should join CCAB and work with us to produce such programs. We have meetings twice a month, bowling once a month and a picnic in the late spring. In season, a local religious group prepares a fabulous holiday meal for us.
Dues are low, and we would love to welcome you to our group. Call President Carolyn MacMahon at 239-774-9393 for details.
