Lt Col Frank Damico has been selected and is recognized by the Marco Island Composite Squadron as the 2010 Senior Member of the Year in recognition of his tireless support and valuable contributions in all aspects of the Squadron’s activities. The award was presented March 21 by Lt Col Ray Rosenberg, Marco Island Squadron Commander.
Lt Col Frank Damico first joined Civil Air Patrol in 1959, as a cadet, and rejoined in 2009. Frank has served in many roles during his short tenure with the Marco Island Composite Squadron. He is very dedicated to CAP, always being available to bring his expertise to assist senior and cadet members when needed.
Frank is assigned as the Squadron Finance Officer, assuming the duties during a period when the Squadron was required to convert to Quick Books; challenging because the Squadron is one of the few squadrons monitored directly by CAP National Headquarters and treated as a Wing for accounting purposes. Frank moved quickly through the CAP Finance Specialty Track and has achieved the Senior Rating.
In addition to his duties for the Squadron, Frank is assigned as an Assistant Inspector General for the Florida Wing. Lt Col Damico was recently presented the Civil Air Patrol’s “Commander’s Commendation Award for Outstanding Duty Performance” signed by CAP National Commander, Major General Amy Courter and FLWG Commander, Colonel Christian Moersch. The award is in recognition of the significant contribution, leadership and many long hours Frank provided the Florida Wing Inspector General from May 2009 to April 2010. Frank holds the Senior Rating of Inspector General.
He also has made a major contribution to Emergency Services, serving as a qualified Mission Scanner, Observer, Radio Operator and Photographer. Frank’s primary assignments are Finance and Inspector General, but he also volunteers to assist in Logistics with hangar maintenance. When anyone needs an extra set of hands, they can always count on Frank.
Frank is a retired Army Medical Service Corps Colonel with 27 years experience in command and principal staff positions. In addition to his military background, Frank’s success in Finance and Inspector General Assignments is attributed to his experiences as a Senior Staff Information Systems Consultant and Project Manager with Verizon. In his spare time, he also sings barbershop with the Chorus of the Everglades and is on the Advisory Board of Opera Naples.
