Six couples were wed by the clerk of courts Crystal Kinzel at the Collier County Courthouse on Valentine’s Day in what is believed to be the first group wedding ever held at the courthouse.

The large crowd assembled cheered wildly as the six couples were wed. Then over a dozen couples took the stage to renew their vows.

Shirley and Jim White were among those who were part of the group wedding.

“We came here to get our marriage license, and Jim saw the ad and he said, ’That’s perfect! Let’s do that.’ So here we are. I’m 80 years old,” said Shirley.

“I’m old enough to know better,” Jim quipped.

“He’s nearly 80,” Shirley stated.

The inaugural Valentine’s Day group wedding was put together by the staff at the courthouse.

Seed to Table provided a beautiful 4-layer wedding cake and several tables full of hors d’oeuvres for the event.

“We hope this becomes an annual event,” proclaimed Kinzel, who performed the ceremonies.
