Cultural Alliance of Marco Island & Goodland CAMIG Announces Election of Officers

Last week, twelve leaders from seven not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organizations met to formalize the structure of their alliance, the foundation needed to meet their mission, “To be a unified voice promoting cultural awareness and activities that enhance the quality of life in Marco Island and Goodland.”

The Cultural Alliance of Marco Island & Goodland (CAMIG) was founded in April 2014 after years of area cultural, art and theater organizations working independently to promote their events to Marco Island residents and visitors.   “We desire a unified voice on initiatives such as a website that includes a comprehensive event calendar, collaboration across organizations, a coordinated marketing plan and an advisory committee. These initiatives will guide the growth and future direction of the cultural arts” said Beverly Dahlstrom, President and Artistic Director for The Marco Players.

During their planning session, the first order of business was to set the legal structure in place by electing officers. The newly elected officers are Beverly Dahlstrom, President; Bruce Graev, Vice President; Sandi Johnson, Treasurer; and Hyla Crane, Secretary. Next, the Alliance will apply for its 501(c)(3) status as a not-for-profit organization, establish by-laws, and establish the criteria for membership, sponsorship, and its advisory committee.

Sandi Johnson of the Marco Island Foundation for the Arts expressed her commitment by saying, “It’s important that our organizations come together to articulate outcomes and strategies needed for this alliance to strengthen the cultural presence and impact on the quality of life in Marco Island and Goodland.”
