Crazy Flamingo celebrated its 22nd Annual Birthday Bash

 

 

Crazy Flamingo celebrated its 22nd birthday with its Annual Birthday Bash at Marco Town Center. The heat did not spoil the event for anyone in attendance unless of course, we’re talking about the Hot Wings contest! Birthday revelers came out to celebrate, listen to some great music by Triple Shot, enjoy a great hamburger or barbecue pork sandwich, or just enjoy good times with friends.

Coastal Breeze’s own Ask Simba columnist, Christina Giordano, opened the event singing the National Anthem and then took a seat at the dunk tank. Two chicken wing eating contests took place. The first was won by Max Tyler, from Naples, in just under four minutes. Max beat out about eight other contestants, including a few of his friends and

last year’s champion. The second chicken wing eating contest was not for the faint of heart, or stomach, because these were HOT wings, and we mean spicy! One contestant knew this game well. He came out in a soaking wet t-shirt, took chapstick in hand, made two passes across his lips and then smashed some all around his face! Contestants were required to raise their hands until Danny Dawber, called start. And munch and chomp and stuff they did, but one by one, the competitors dropped out. “It’s too hot!” “You try this!” “I can’t take anymore!” The crowd began to chant, “Gary! Gary! Gareeee!” Danny yelled, “Five left!” “Three left!” “Two left!” Until one last wing went down, into what can only be, an iron stomach! Gary Krist was deemed the 2011 Hot Wings champ!
