Every year for the last 10 years, a Craft Bazaar has been part of the holiday tradition for the craft ladies of the United Church of Marco. For this year, the Craft Bazaar is scheduled for Friday, November 13th, from 9 AM – 2 PM inside Disseler Hall.
Linda James and Kathy Hollis have been hard at work this year preparing for the craft bazaar and coordinating with 8-10 members of their group. According to Kathy Hollis, when the pandemic hit in March, the craft ladies took all their supplies home and kept busy creating holiday–themed items during their self-isolation.
When the group finally met in early October, they decided that they had to have a craft bazaar since there is much to share with the community. In addition, the Bargain Basket also has been saving holiday items for the craft bazaar. They receive new items with price tags still on them, and they also receive almost new holiday items such as tablecloths, throw pillows and hand towels. Most of these items are going to be sold for $3 or less.
In years past, the Craft Bazaar included a luncheon, pre-coffee and cookies and a bake sale. After speaking with the church leaders, the craft bazaar this year will have some restrictions.
The doors to Disseler Hall will be all open, and masks will be required for entry, but if you forgot to bring one, a mask will be provided to you. Hand sanitizers will also be available, tables will be far apart, no food items will be available for sale, and no outside vendors.
In the past, the recipients from the Craft Bazaar had been the Our Daily Bread Food Pantry, Habitat for Humanity, and last year they added Camp Able. Thanks to the many items both created and donated all the proceeds will go to local charities, which will be decided after the Craft Bazaar.
Craft Bazaars are part of the community holiday tradition—browsing to find that unique and whimsical handmade item for your stocking stuffer or as a decorative item for the home. Craft gifts are personal and help convey that warm and holiday feeling. You also get that special feeling knowing that all the proceeds will be awarded to local charity. See you all at the Craft Bazaar for the United Church.
