Councilor Bob Brown was taken ill at the Monday evening meeting of the Marco Island City Council. Brown, who chose not to run for a second full term on council earlier this year, was experiencing some shortness of breath and pain in his back.
Marco Island Fire Rescue and the Collier County EMS responded to council chambers at 7:56 PM for a male subject in distress. After an initial work up, it was decided that Brown should be transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
Councilor Brown had been recovering from a month long ailment earlier in the summer and was thought to be in recovery.
Following the event, council adjourned their meeting early.
