Marco Island City Council on Monday evening voted to push ahead with a process which may see up to five individuals invited to interview for filling the position of “Interim City Manager.” That process will begin in earnest when deep background checks on five individuals are returned to the city and discussed at the September 4 council meeting.
Council voted to proceed with background checks on William Vance, James Hook, Maria Alberto Menendez, Donald Stillwell and David Harden. Vance, Harden, Stillwell and Menendez have Florida experience.
After reviewing the background checks on September 4, council may move forward to interview semi-finalists. The interview process would take place September 11, 12 and 13.
Only Councilor Bob Brown would vote in the negative.
Shortly after that vote, Councilor Brown would be taken ill and transported to the hospital. His colleagues would adjourn the meeting rather than continue.
