Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary has announced its Gallery Café Artists Series for the 2018-19 season. The works of four artists and a special traveling Audubon Photography Awards exhibit will be displayed in five separate shows from October 2018 through July 2019 in the Gallery Café located inside the Sanctuary’s Blair Visitor Center.
“Most of the artists we choose have visited Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary and part of their work was inspired by its beauty,” said Roswitha Marold, the Sanctuary’s retail and sales manager.

“You don’t have to be a hiker or a bird-watcher to fall in love with Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary,” added Tabitha Stadler, the Sanctuary’s assistant director. “Many of our biggest fans come here to paint, photograph, or simple enjoy the visually stunning views of our nation’s largest stand of old growth bald cypress trees. The artists featured in these shows share their love of nature with our visitors through the expression of art. It’s truly inspirational.”
The public will have an opportunity to “Meet the Artist” during each exhibit, which features different art mediums. All of the exhibited art is for sale, with proceeds benefitting Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, a non-profit organization, and the individual artist. For each artist, it will be the first time their work has appeared in the Gallery Café Artists series.
Capping off the Gallery Café Artists series will be a special touring Audubon Photography Awards exhibit. The exhibit is traveling to Audubon centers throughout the country, and its last stop is at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, July 1 to 31.
It will feature 12 spectacular photographs of birds covering a wide range of species and locations. Seven images are winners and honorable mentions in the 2018 Audubon Photography Awards competition, and five others were selected from the 2018 gallery of top 100 photos.
The Sanctuary’s Café serves drinks, lunch and snacks and visitors can enjoy the artwork within a comfortable air-conditioned area.
Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is located at 375 Sanctuary Road, Naples, about 15 miles east of Interstate 75 off Immokalee Road. The Sanctuary is open every day from 7 AM to 5:30 PM. The last admission to the boardwalk is at 4:30 PM.
