If you have been by The Racquet Center recently you have noticed a lot of activity going on, and I don’t necessarily mean people playing tennis and pickleball. The Racquet Center is undergoing renovations.

Gary Morton of Mor-Sports and his crew are hard at work, implementing improvements and upgrades at the facility. Mor-Sports built all of the courts at East Naples Park, which is the location of the U.S. Open Pickleball Championships.

The major improvements taking place at The Racquet Center include new fencing, new lines and court surface on the clay courts, four new permanent net pickleball courts on Court #2, as well as four new temporary net pickleball courts on Court #1. Court #1 will be utilized for recreational play as well as the instructors’ court for clinics and private lessons for both tennis and pickleball. In addition to all of that, the restrooms are being updated and upgraded to be ADA compliant.

Many of the ongoing improvements at The Racquet Center have already been completed.

You may have already noticed our O’Leary Lane for access to the stadium court. The racquetball building has been renovated and is like brand new. In addition to being utilized for racquetball, the indoor racquetball courts provide an alternative location for me, so that I don’t have to cancel my Coach Wayne’s Tennis Sports Camp because of rain or threatening weather conditions. The kids love going inside and playing a variety of games, such as wallyball and beachball tennis. The racquetball rooms also provide a location for activities like youth karate and tumbling, which are offered through Mackle Park.

As always, the instructional staff at The Racquet Club will be offering a wide variety of programing with daily clinics and private lessons.

I will be running my Coach Wayne’s Tennis Sports Camp on Monday and Wednesday from 4 to 5 PM. Coach Jodi Pree will offer pickleball clinics for all level of players. And for you tennis players, Coach Howie Burnet will be back offering tennis clinics.

The Racquet Center shop staff, Carol Hallashack, Janet Reener, Jim Kornas and Lee Ross, are there daily to provide information and assist players with court reservations, sign ups for clinics, round robin play and our game finder service.

Also, thanks to the efforts of Jim, information on activities at The Racquet Center is now accessible on a wide variety of online venues such as tripadvisor.com, paradisecoast.com, globaltennisnetwork.com, and places2play.org.

So bear with us and please be patient as we work on these renovations and improvements. When everything is completed, The Racquet Center will be a world-class facility for both pickleball and tennis.
