Boating and fishing are popular pastimes on Marco Island. 90 of the 284 condos for sale this week on Marco Island feature boat docks and 50 feature fishing piers.

Condo owners can choose between various types of boat dock arrangements like daily, weekly, monthly or annual rental plans or ownership of a deeded dock. 13 condos for sale this week come with a deeded dock – that is, the dock is part of the condo and conveys to the buyer upon the sale of the condo. Eight of these condos with deeded docks come with boat lifts that range in capacity from 7,000 pounds to 10,000 pounds and boat lengths from 25 to 30 feet. Five additional condos listed for sale have deeded boat slips but no lift has been installed. Condos with deeded docks range in price from $335,000 to $700,000. Typically these are two or three bedroom condos ranging in size from 1000

sq ft to almost 1900 sqft. This week they are all located on water direct locations with easy access to the Gulf.

The remaining 77 condos for sale with a boat dock indicate that a dock is available for lease with prices ranging from $149 per year (that’s right $149 per year) to almost $2,000 per year plus 6% sales tax. These are all wet slips – the boat remains in the water because there is no lift. If boat lifts are available for rent at the condo, the new condo owner has to wait their turn by first renting a wet slip then getting on the waiting list for docks with lifts. This group of condos range from 1 to 4 bedrooms and $179,000 to $879,000.

50 condos are advertised this week with a fishing pier. About half of them are on the Gulf or south side of the island. You can enjoy fishing from your condo pier

for anywhere between $169,000 for a one bedroom one bathroom condo to over $7 million for a Cape Marco Penthouse.

Condo owners on the beach or inland without access to a boat dock can keep a boat at one of the local marinas or rent a boat for a half day or full day. Marinas on the island charge about $15/foot/month for dry storage on an annual basis. Condo owners without a boat can still enjoy the experience by chartering one. Sleek fishing boats can be rented for a half day with a captain, supplies and a license for four people to fish near the coast or back country for $450. It will cost $600 for a half day with a captain, supplies and a license for offshore fishing. If you are familiar with boating, Marco Island waters and are over 21 with a driver’s license you can rent a boat for about $200 per half day plus fuel and tax.
