Want a healthier life? Don’t we all? Here’s an opportunity, thanks to the City of Marco Island and numerous medical professionals and businesses. On Saturday, February 18th from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM the city will be holding a Community Health Fair at Mackle Park.
Debbie McCabe, on behalf of the city’s Parks and Recreation Department is spearheading this event. She says that the purpose is, “to promote a healthy and balanced lifestyle” – hence the event’s motto: “Strengthen an Island Lifestyle”.
The program includes free (yes, FREE!) health screenings for: blood pressure, skin cancer, hearing, vision (adult and pediatric), glaucoma, body fat (oops), scoliosis, bone density, blood sugar, dental/oral cancer, memory and other potential medical problems. There will be additional information on exercise, senior care, arthritis, hydration sun care and much more. There will even be demonstrations of Zen Yoga, Tai Chi and Aerobics and also door prizes and giveaways.

• Dr. Neal Beightol (skin cancer)
• Dr. Leela Bolla (memory and Alzheimer’s)
• Madison Eye Center (vision)
• Dr. Jim Kelly (lazy eye and binocular vision)
• Dr. Doug Stevenson (scoliosis)
• Kriger Orthodontic (dental screening)
• Royal Palm Dentistry (oral cancer)
• Dr. Joseph Lang (vitamins, nutrition, antioxidants)
• Naples Community Hospital (weight, physical therapy, osteoporosis)
Publix Pharmacy will be giving information on diabetes training, while Marco Island’s Fire/Rescue Department will be screening blood pressure and Marco Island’s Police Department will be giving information on boat and bike safety and drug and alcohol abuse prevention.
FREE healthy turkey and chicken sandwiches, gluten free foods, fruits, snacks and drinks will be provided.
Ms. McCabe says that, “the city, dedicated health professionals and businesses have come together to provide a rare opportunity for residents and visitors. We hope that you gather your friends and family members to get the information you need to Strengthen an Island Lifestyle!”
