Submitted

Collier County Commissioner Donna Fiala, District 1, invites Collier County residents to attend her first Town Hall Gathering of 2018 at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the Marco Island Historical Museum, Rose History Auditorium, 180 S. Heathwood Drive, Marco Island, Florida 34145.

“I encourage everyone interested to attend this Town Hall Gathering regarding issues affecting Marco Island and the surrounding communities,” said Commissioner Fiala. “This gathering provides me the opportunity to bring staff to your own backyard where they will share information and meet with residents directly to discuss their issues.”

Commissioner Fiala will provide opening remarks and introduce several key members of the county administrative team, including Collier County Manager Leo E. Ochs, Jr.; Deputy County Manager Nick Casalanguida; Sheriff Kevin Rambosk; Collier Mosquito Control Executive Director Patrick Linn; Public Utilities Deputy Department Head Dan Rodriquez; Collier County Parks and Recreation Director Barry Williams; Coastal Zone Manager Gary McAlpin; Growth Management Department Head Thaddeus Cohen; Airport Authority Manager Justin Lobb; and, Pat Rutledge of the Marco Island Historical Museum.

Specifically, county staff will discuss the 2018 budget and address Marco Island’s COPCN application. Staff will also provide a status report on County Road 92A (Goodland Road), and an update on FDOT projects on State Road 951. Other topics include the emergency dredging of Collier Creek, hurricane debris cleanup, and the Coast Guard Auxiliary Facility. A question and answer session will follow Commissioner Fiala’s closing remarks.

“I look forward to public input as we talk about projects that will specifically impact those living and working on Marco Island and the surrounding areas,” said Commissioner Fiala. “There’s definitely value in bringing government staff to visit citizens in their community to understand needs and positions. I prioritize being accessible and responding to citizen inquiries, and love bringing our staff to you for direct contact and information.”

The Marco Island Historical Museum will remain open during the Town Hall Gathering and will remain open for a short time after the event for those who would like to see the exciting new displays and art. More than one commissioner may be present at, and participate in, Commissioner Fiala’s District 1 Town Hall Gathering. Discussion may include items for action at a future Board of County Commissioners meeting. Commissioner Fiala has a second town hall meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at the South Regional Library, 8065 Lely Cultural Parkway, Naples, Florida 34113.
