The Boards of the YMCA of South Collier and the Greater Naples YMCA announced that they have reached a new management agreement under which Lucinda “Cindy” Love-Abounader, longtime CEO of the YMCA of South Collier, will lead the operations of both organizations. “This agreement gives us an opportunity to share resources, learn from each other’s successes and grow the impact that we can make in our communities,” said Love-Abounader.
According to Greater Naples YMCA Chair Greg Woods, “The CEO vacancy at the Greater Naples YMCA allowed the two Ys to open discussions on ways to be more efficient and more effective in providing services. With Cindy’s 20 years of successful YMCA leadership, a management agreement simply made sense to us.”
Ashley Lupo, Chair of the YMCA of South Collier, agreed. “Cindy inspires confidence because she is steady in periods of growth and crisis. She has led us through hurricanes, recessions and now a pandemic with a consistent focus on the needs of the children, families and seniors that we serve.”
The YMCA provides our members and our community with vital programs and services—many on financial scholarships—through membership dues and donations. With the twin challenges of COVID-19 and the increasing cost of operations, Ys are making difficult decisions and adjustments to our business model.
“Our community needs the YMCA more than ever,” Love-Abounader added. “With strategic partnerships and the financial backing of our supporters, we will meet these challenges together.”
