As more locals are getting back to work, applications for assistance to Collier Comes Together-Marco Island have decreased to a few in the last weeks. The local ambassadors of this program: Cindy Love-Aboundader (CEO YMCA of South Collier/Marco YMCA), Dianna Dohm (Executive Director of the Marco Island Chamber of Commerce), Liz Pecora (Director Our Daily Bread Food Pantry), and Allyson Richards (Board Member of the Community Foundation of Collier County/Marco Island) have met weekly to review every application for assistance.
Over the last three months, these four good–will ambassadors distributed over $52,000 in donated funds to locals either working or living in Marco Island, Goodland or Isles of Capri who lost their employment due to COVID-19. “These people were in need of funds for basic necessities such as rent, utilities and childcare,” said Aboundader, “we had to do something.”
All four of these community leaders would like to give a special thank you to our local community for their generous donations and the Community Foundation of Collier County for supporting those who needed help the most during these difficult times.
As Allyson Richards aptly put it, “We are in this together, and as we all get back to work we will come out of this together.”
