Birds of the Beach on December 15 from 8 AM – 12 PM ($40). Adam DiNuovo of Audubon Florida will discuss the life history of migrating and wintering shorebirds. Learn how to ID winter shorebirds. Classroom session takes place at the Rookery Bay Field Station, followed by a trip to Tigertail Beach. Be prepared to wade in water up to your knees, with adequate footwear (no flip flops). County beach parking fee applies ($8, free with sticker). Class is geared toward those with some birding experience. If you are new to birding, we recommend first taking the Birding Basics class.
Birding Basics on December 21 from 8:30 AM- 12:30 PM ($40). This fun and informative class is designed to help you identify birds around you. Oriented toward the beginning birder, the session explores how to use plumage, shape, behavior and habitat to recognize species. Learn effective use of binoculars and field guides. During the second part of the class, learn tricks of the trade during a field trip where you can practice new skills.
