It would be hard to beat Marco Island when it comes to a community with big hearts, charitable giving and supporting those in need. Proof of this is the newly formed chapter of the Civitan Club of Marco Island.
Civitan International is a service organization dedicated to serving the needs of the community with an emphasis on the developmentally disabled. A press release stated, “Its uniqueness is the Civitan International Research Center, which is dedicated to finding a cause, cure and better treatments for many brain disorders.”
There are several types of memberships available: Active member, Project member, Support member and Corporate Member (a person representing a business which donates $500 or more), Active member (initiation fee is only $25), and an annual membership is only $100. Annual memberships can be paid quarterly.
A charter and installation dinner was held recently sponsored by BMO Harris Bank, with a special appearance by Syd Fishman, Civitan Past International President. The newly installed Charter member officers are: Anthony A. DeLucia, president; Jan Stuglik, president-elect; Alex Elaty, secretary; Debbie Travis, treasurer; Trish Boone, director; Lori Gresko, director; Nery Kircher, director; Robert Kircher, director; and Eileen Kelly, sergeant-at-arms.
