Christmastime on Marco Island is filled with holiday magic, thanks to Christmas Island Style, the non-profit organization that brings free, fun-filled seasonal events to the entire community.
Recently, Santa and Mrs. Claus paid a visit at Salon and Spa Botanica at the Shops of Marco, arriving in abig red fire truck. They were greeted by an eager crowd of local children, who lined up for the chance to meet Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and sit on Santa’s lap.
Christmas Island Style committee members, along with the Italian American Club, Marco Island Utility and Fire Departments, LCEC, and Condee Cooling& Electric worked together to put up the 30 foot tall Christmas tree in Veterans Community Park. A crowd of thousands came together for the Christmas tree lighting and community celebration, which was bigger and better than ever.
The evening was full of activity. People socialized and tailgated while children played inthe “snow” provided by Condee Cooling & Electric. Musician Jim Long acted as Master of Ceremonies. Young dancers from the Island Dance Academy and Island Montessori Academy performed their carefully practiced routines. Also in the lineup were Island Music Academy singers, and tenth grader Alexa Harrington with a choral presentation. Marco Island Charter Middle School Starz Band and the Marco Island Academy Band also gave talented performances.
After Father Kyle Bennett blessed the Christmas tree, it was ceremoniously lit, drawing the evening to a picture-perfect end.
