For years the Italian American Club has been decorating the Island Style Christmas tree that now stands tall at Veteran’s Memorial Park. Not only has the club decorated the tree, but it also purchased the tree and the ornaments – many of which must be replaced every year.
The club invites all of Marco Island to come to Veteran’s Memorial Park on November 26 at 9 AM to help with the assembly and decorating.
Condee Cooling and Electric will volunteer its staging equipment and services to help assemble the tree, and LCEC will help with the lighting set-up.
The rest of the volunteers arrange ornaments, lights and garland by size color and placement. The sheer spacethe decorations take up as they are laid out and sorted is a sight in its own right!
Layer by layer, as the tree is put together, the excitement among the volunteers builds as they await the final product. The giant Christmas tree has been a symbol to the community, marking the start to the holiday season, kicking things off with the popular Tree Lighting Ceremony which takes place on November 30 at 6 PM.
Start your celebration early by volunteering along side the Italian American Club of Marco Island at 9 AM on November 26. It may even inspire you to start that last minute gift shopping you’ve been putting off or to decorate your own home a tad earlier this year. After all, there’s nothing like Holiday Cheer!
